Best Team Comps For Yunli
Trace (Skill) Priority For Yunli
Using the best build for Yunli in Honkai: Star Rail and giving her a reliable team comp is the key to unlocking her full potential and transforming her into the party’s main damage dealer. Yunli is a 5-star Physical character who follows the Path of the Destruction. As is the case with most units on this Path, Yunli is a specialist in dealing damage and sustaining incoming attacks. While several Destruction characters, like Blade in Honkai: Star Rail, tend to focus on HP-loss mechanics, Yunli’s strategy is to goad opponents into hitting her. When they do, she unleashes a counterattack.
This is the central part of her gameplay rotation. Although she actively participates in battle with her Skill and Ultimate, the most reliable and consistent source of damage output will come from the counterattacks Yunli executes against foes. These counterattacks are considered follow-up attacks, too, making it much more straightforward to find a team for her. Because of how much damage Yunli will sustain, however, you will need to adequately build her, not only increasing her odds of survival but also lending assistance from other Honkai: Star Rail characters to ensure she operates at the peak of her performance.

Best Light Cones For Yunli
There Are Several Good Options For Yunli
Despite how differently her mechanics work when compared to other characters on the same path, Yunli is a very traditional DPS unit in the game. This means that, when you are building her, you should strive to give Yunli basic offensive stats like a healthy CRIT Rate and CRIT DMG distribution, as well as ATK and Physical DMG (since she is a Physical unit). Other sub-stats like Effect RES, DEF, and HP, are also welcome, especially considering how much damage Yunli will be taking during combat. The first step to finding these stats is with a proper Light Cone.
The table below lists the best builds for Yunli in Honkai: Star Rail, including the ideal Light Cones, optimal Relics and Ornaments, priority stats, and more:

The best Light Cone for Yunli is Dance at Sunset, her signature 5-star weapon. Dance at Sunset’s first effect is increasing the user’s chances of getting attacked, which is perfect for Yunli since her counterattacks are triggered when she is hit. Additionally, it gives Yunli a 36% CRIT DMG bonus. Furthermore, when Yunli uses her Ultimate, she gets a stack of Firedance, for two turns, up to two stacks. Each stack increases DMG dealt by her follow-up attacks by 36%. Dance at Sunset attends to all of Yunli’s needs and plays into her core mechanics in Honkai: Star Rail.
Alternatively, you can use Something Irreplaceable on Yunli. This 5-star Light Cone boosts the user’s ATK and, when they defeat an enemy or are hit, they restore HP based on their ATK. They also get ATK boosts when they defeat an enemy or are hit, making it great for Yunli’s counterattacks. Another fantastic option is The Unreachable Side. Blade’s signature 5-star Light Cone increases CRIT Rate and Max HP, while also boosting DMG whenever the wearer is attacked or consumes their own HP.
The 5-star Light Cone I Shall Be My Own Sword, which is Jingliu’s best Light Cone in Honkai: Star Rail, is also a great option for Yunli.
A 5-star F2P (free-to-play) option is On the Fall of an Aeon, which boosts ATK every time the user attacks, an effect that can stack up to four times. This F2P Light Cone also boosts DMG when the user breaks an enemy’s Weakness. Considering the fact that it is easy to take On the Fall of an Aeon to S5 (Superimposition level 5), you should definitely consider it for Yunli in case the premium weapons are not promptly available.
Of course, you could also equip Yunli with 4-star Light Cones. Nowhere To Run and Under The Blue Sky both give the user an offensive advantage, and both have secondary effects triggered once the user defeats an enemy. These are not as useful as effects triggered by incoming attacks, but can still be used. Ultimately, you will want to look for Light Cones in Honkai: Star Rail that boost offensive properties and that play into Yunli’s mechanics of getting hit and constantly attacking with counterattacks.
Best Team Comps For Yunli
Yunli Is Versatile For Various Types Of Parties
When it comes to finding Yunli a suitable team, you will have a plethora of options to choose from, mainly due to the fact that she operates well in most types of compositions. However, she excels in follow-up attack team comps, since her own counterattack is considered a follow-up attack. Having Honkai: Star Rail’s Robin as a support for her can substantially boost the damage output of her counterattacks, for example.
The table below lists a few team comp suggestions for Yunli:
Best Team Comps For Yunli In Honkai: Star Rail | |
---|---|
Premium Follow-Up Attack Team |
|
Hypercarry Team |

Budget-Friendly (F2P) Team Comp |

Another possibility is putting Yunli in a hypercarry team, focused on boosting her damage potential and keeping her alive. For this composition, you’ll need to bring in two supports that can keep her attacking with buffs, as well as a damage mitigator, like a shielder or a healer. The choices are many, and there are surprising synergies that can be activated. Lynx, for instance, increases the odds of Yunli being attacked because she is a Destruction character in Honkai: Star Rail. March 7th - Hunt, on the other hand, is a sub-DPS that increases the main DPS’ CRIT DMG.
Lore-wise, it also makes sense to pair March 7th - Hunt with Yunli since the Destruction character is somewhat of a master to the member of the Astral Express.
Best Relics, Ornaments, & Stats For Yunli
There Are Great Sets That Boost Stats Based On Follow-Up Attacks
To continue Yunli’s build, the next step is giving her to proper gear to work with. Currently, the best Relic set for Yunli is The Wind-Soaring Valorous. Its two-piece bonus grants a 12% ATK bonus, while the four-piece bonus boosts her CRIT Rate by 6% and, after Yunli executes a follow-up attack, the damage dealt by her Ultimate is increased by 30% for one turn. When it comes to Ornaments in Honkai: Star Rail, Yunli has two distinct choices.
The Duran, Dynasty of Running Wolves set is perfect for Yunli as long as the rest of her team also deals follow-up attacks. When her allies do this, she gains stacks of Merit, up to five times, with each stack granting her a 5% DMG boost to her follow-up attacks. When she has all five stacks, she also gains a 25% CRIT DMG bonus. This, of course, requires the rest of the party to constantly use follow-up attacks, and will not serve her too well if your team comp is not tailored for this purpose.
Alternatively, and quite possibly the best Ornament set for Yunli due to its neutrality, is the classic Inert Salsotto. Its bonus increases CRIT Rate by 8% and when her CRIT Rate reaches 50% or higher, Yunli’s Ultimate and follow-up attack DMG is boosted by 15%. Seeing you should be building CRIT Rate at a significant pace, the 50% minimum requirement for the Ornament set should be easily achieved and surpassed.
As was previously mentioned, CRIT Rate, CRIT DMG, ATK, and Physical DMG are all of Yunli’s stat priorities in Honkai: Star Rail. HP, Effect RES, and DEF are all great sub-stats to give her extra survivability. You can also invest a bit in Energy Regeneration Rate to have her Ultimate available more often, but that is less of a priority.
Trace (Skill) Priority For Yunli
Prioritize Leveling Up The Abilities That Boost Her Follow-Up Attacks
When leveling up Yunli’s abilities, you may be forced to prioritize some over others given the game’s availability of resources. As such, you should invest all you can in her Talent, which dictates the power of her follow-up attacks, followed shortly after by her Ultimate, which enhances her follow-up attacks, gives her extra CRIT DMG, and more. Her Skill should be leveled up next, and her Basic Attack is the lowest priority, as she will not be using it too often.

Overall, building Yunli and giving her a proper team comp is fairly easy and straightforward. The fact that she does not rely on SPD is also helpful, making it even easier to invest in offensive skills. Of course, knowing when and how to use her and how to vary her team comps depending on the situation is also key, but Yunli is easily one of the strongest Physical DPS in the game right now, serving as both a substitute to Dr. Ratio in follow-up attack team comps as well as a new type of follow-up DPS in Honkai: Star Rail.
