Join U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) for a career fair on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, from 10:00a.m. to 3:00p.m. Eastern Time to learn more about our humanitarian mission and how joining USCIS can be the start of a meaningful career. USCIS is the government agency that oversees lawful immigration to the United States, delivers decisions to individuals, families, businesses, workers, and those seeking a place of safety and shelter in our country, whether they filed applications, petitions, requests, or appeals. The work of USCIS employees makes the possibility of America a reality for immigrants, for the communities and economies they join, and for the nation. USCIS administers several humanitarian programs, domestically and abroad, to assist individuals seeking protection from persecution or torture, survivors of trafficking, domestic violence, or other serious crimes, individuals fleeing disasters or other temporary and urgent circumstances. By working in close collaboration with the Departments of State and Health and Human Services to fulfill the United States’ protection obligations, USCIS’ unique humanitarian programs have long been a beacon of hope and inspiration for individuals around the world seeking protection and refuge.
Positions eligible for Direct Hire Authority (all U.S. Citizens and Nationals):
- Asylum Officer GS-7/9/11/12/13 - Adjudicate asylum applications, conduct credible and reasonable fear screenings, and adjudicate other benefit applications managed by the asylum program, including motions to reopen and reconsider. Available at the following locations: Chicago, IL; Bethpage, NY; Houston, TX; Miami, FL; Arlington, VA; New Orleans, LA; Newark, NJ; San Francisco, CA.
- Supervisory Asylum Officer GS-13- Provide direction to staff engaged in the administration and enforcement of Immigration and Nationality laws pertinent to the Asylum Program. Available at the following locations: Bethpage, NY; Miami, FL; New Orleans, LA; Tampa, FL; Arlington, VA.
- Legal Administrative Specialist GS-5/7/9- Interact with applicants to elicit and provide valuable information relating to their case. Available at the following locations: New Orleans, LA; Tampa, FL; San Francisco, CA.
- Immigration Services Officer GS-5/7/9- Independently research, interpret and analyze an extensive spectrum of sources in order to accurately adjudicate immigration benefits and petitions. - Interact with applicants to elicit and provide valuable information relating to their case. Available at the following locations: Baltimore, MD; Boston, MA; Charlotte, NC; Cranbury, NJ; Fairfax, VA, Holtsville, NY; Lawrence, MA; New York City, NY; Newark, NJ; Philadelphia, PA; Queens, NY; Remote.
- Immigration Services Assistant (Office Automation) GS-5/6/7 -Support the adjudication process by conducting security checks, supporting officers, managing correspondence, maintaining customer support, processing documents and fees, performing analysis on files, reports, and information systems or databases. Available at the following locations: Baltimore, MD; Boston, MA; Charlotte, NC; Cranbury, NJ; Fairfax, VA; Lawrence, MA; Newark, NJ; Raleigh, NC.
- Immigration Officer GS-12/13/14- Offers guidance and conducts research to improve policies and procedures, while identifying, articulating, and addressing potential immigration benefit fraud. Available at the following locations: Camp Springs, MD.
- Economist GS-13/14- Conduct complex economic research, apply such research to complex problems, develop analytical techniques for economic studies, and conduct special analyses of major economic issues. Available at the following locations: Washington, DC.
- Information Technology (IT) Specialist GS-9/11/12- Creates, develops, and implements IT services. Offers expert advice and guidance on a broad spectrum of complex IT challenges. Assesses proposals for acquiring IT products or services. Formulates new theories, concepts, principles, standards, and methodologies in the field. Available at the following locations: Camp Springs, MD.
Positions eligible for Non-Competitive Hiring Authority (Veteran, Schedule A, etc.):
- Immigration Services Officer GS-5/7/9- Independently research, interpret and analyze an extensive spectrum of sources in order to accurately adjudicate immigration benefits and petitions. - Interact with applicants to elicit and provide valuable information relating to their case. Available at the following locations: Boston, MA; Lawrence, MA.
- Immigration Services Assistant (Office Automation) GS-5/6/7 -Support the adjudication process by conducting security checks, supporting officers, managing correspondence, maintaining customer support, processing documents and fees, performing analysis on files, reports, and information systems or databases. Available at the following locations: Boston, MA; Columbus, OH; Indianapolis, IN; Pittsburgh, PA.

Citizenship requirement:In order to be considered for employment with USCIS, you must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. National.
Before the event:Create and be able to access your USAJOBS.gov account.
What paper documents to prepare to bring to the event:
- Two forms of ID (such as passport, state-issued ID card).
- Printed copy of your registration ticket.
- Federal Resume (USCIS recommends that resumes be no more than five pages in length)
- Transcripts for all undergraduate and graduate level education, if applicable
- List of three Professional References and their contact information.
- If you have current or prior federal employment: SF-50 showing appointment to competitive service, tenure, grade and step, and full performance level.
- If you are a veteran: (1) DD-214 showing character of service; and, (2) Veterans Affairs (VA) disability rating letter, if applicable
- If you are an individual with a disability: Letter stating you have a qualifying disability, from a medical professional or other organization that grants disability benefits.

- You can be considered for two positions at this event. If you want to be considered for more than one position, please bring additional copies of all the documents listed above.
- Documents WILL NOT be returned.
- NO onsite printing will be available.
